There were some close races. In the Novice Class, 3 points separated 1st and 2nd while in the Expert Class, there was a separation of only 50 points.

1st Day of Racing in the Books
Thanks to all of you who came out to race this afternoon. It was great seeing you all. We had 53 Riders in 17 Motos. The weather was superb and there was some great racing going on. Let's hope we have a successful and safe season of racing.

Opening Day at Westmoreland BMX - 2007
It's hard to believe that another racing season is upon us. I know for you die hard racers, you either couldn't wait for today to come or you haven't quit since last season. But for the vast majority of us, the season kicks off in April or May and goes into September or October. So here we are again. I wish all of the best wishes for a successful racing season. Here's to all of us having a lot of fun, meeting up with old acquaintances and meeting new ones.

P. S. I apologize to all you race fans that have come to depend on WestmorelandBMX.com for the latest going ons at the track. I've been quite busy (who isn't) with work and family with kids on two different sport teams. We wrapped up one sport last night and we've got 3 more meets to go for the other. I'm getting geared up for racing and so is my son. So, with more time on my hands, I'm pledging to do my best to make WestmorelandBMX.com even better than last year.

Racing Begins May 5
Work days have been scheduled for Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22 beginning at 9 AM both days. Please come out, bring your shovels, rakes, and weedwackers, and help as much as you can.
We'll have our annual open house for new BMXers on Saturday April 28 and Sunday April 29 from 12 - 4 on both days.
We have several new fund raising ideas for 2007. Ask about the new sponsership of a rider program.
Racing will begin on Saturday, May 5.

It's hard to believe, but Spring is almost here. We'll have our annual open house for new BMXers on Saturday April 28 and Sunday April 29. Times will be announced as we get closer to the event.

There were 52 riders in 14 motos on Sunday, October 1st. Thanks for all who came out on Sunday. The weather was great for racing. The track could have used some more time to dry out, but the riders didn't seem to mind. Results and Pictures have been published.

Westmoreland BMX Rider Appreciation postponed til Sunday
The next local race has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 1st. Registration is from 12 to 1 with racing beginning at 1:30. This will be our last race of the season at Westmoreland and will be our rider appreciation. All family members are welcome.
Please note that we will be holding the picnic tomorrow no matter what. The food and drinks that have been ordered must be used tomorrow. Please come rain or shine and enjoy the afternoon with our BMX familiy.
Westmoreland BMX will provide the meat and the beverages. We ask that families with last names ending with A-M bring a side dish and N-Z bring a dessert.

Gavin Zimmerman
Keep 7 year old rider Gavin Zimmerman in your prayers. I've received this from Amy Zimmerman, Gavin's mother: "Gavin is home. We came home from Children's on Saturday. He did well in the hospital. He is doing well. He has not had any pain since that night. He is not to be playing rough or running, or riding his bike (which is the hardest thing to keep him off of). He can't really do too much for the next 6 weeks. He is back at school. We have a follow up appt. at the end of September. We will know then how he is doing internally. I wanted to thank everyone who helped us that night. I think if it wasn't for the EMT who told us to go and get checked right away and not to drink anything things would have been much worse. Craig mentioned about having somethingannounced, Scott and I do not have a problem with that. Nor if you would like to post something. That would be fine. Our email is sazim@verizon.net Gavin will receive anything that comes through email. Once again thank all of you at the track for your help, your thoughts and your prayers. Gavin is itching to get back to racing. (That night he said, "I stillam going to race next week!")
